Reflection

Over my years of being a Asa Clark Student I realized that I have learned a lot from academic part to students here to. But the one of the most important things that I learned was finding out what I was good at. One class that I thought I improved was Language Arts, I remember when I was in 7th grade I  had no clue what I was doing I just wanted to get everything done with. Now I realize that I take my time, I put more voice into my papers, my proofreading has gotten a lot better, and I think I make a lot more sense now then I ever did.

Kid

My heart races as I run through the streets of New York, turning around every second to see cars multiply by the minute -- chasing me  and I don’t know why. A helicopter swoops down to get me, but I push myself to run faster even if it is my last breath, till I notice that I can run fast , jump 100 feet, and break everything that gets in my way. I run under some stairs and have the feeling of comfort just like when I was little, and my mom used to tuck my in my race car bed. Above my bed was a poster of one of the greatest baseball players of all time -- Babe Ruth. "WE NEED YOU THOMAS!" As soon as I hear that, my great memories brought me back to the worst time of my life.

the evil goverment AKA HB

Have you ever wondered if there was someone in the world that looked just like you? Had the same strength, looks, and quickness? Well in this case, people in the year 2081 people were like this. Wouldn’t you hate that, hate the fact that someone is just like you. I mean it would be nice to be the same sometimes but all the time would suck.

The short story "Harrison Bergeron" reminds me of a point in history when the Nazis wanted to take over the world. Killing people that were not German, blonde and blue eyes, mentally held back, and religion. The same thing is happening to the citizens of America in 2081; someone named Diana moon Glampers she is the one who thought of the idea of if your pretty you wear a mask,if your strong you hold sand bags , if you are smart you have this earphone type thing  that makes a buzzing noise every 30 seconds so  you forget everything that you just learned or thought of. Harrison is a 14 year old boy who stands up for what he believes in. He thinks that the people should not be treated like this. People are people; that is what makes a world, different people, different ideas , different looks, and different power.  The world that they live in is not a world anymore; it is like a movie set acting like someone they're not but they have to anyway.

I believe that the story was to make the reader think , think about how our government would be like if this happened . Why are people so afraid to stand up for what they believe for, people are afraid to change , Harrison was not just a 14 year old boy he was a brave, strong, smart , man!

Lottery Ticket

375 million! what would you do with that ? Is int that the question that every body ask "what would you do with a million dollars". If you ask me what I would do with a million dollars or more, I would tell you that I would help my family out then I would want to go help little boys and girls in Mexico with education because everybody deserves amazing education. As you may know the picture to your left is a picture of a scene in the movie lottery ticket, the movie has a great plot line you should watch it some time. The story makes you think about who really is there for you and who really is not. When you have 375 million dollars who isn't going to be your friend. I believe that people with money miss understand that money is not everything. In some people eyes money is everything to them. I guess when you have money power tends to follow with it and everybody likes power. The point of this writing is for you to think. think about everything,Think what would you do with 375 million dollars.

My Role model

I just walk up out the door all the girls will applaud
all the girls will commend, as long as they understand
that i'm fighting for the girls, that never thought they could win
cause before they could begin you told'em it was the end
but I am here to reverse the curse that they live in.

That is a verse that Nicki Minaj rapped in her song "I'm the best" if you don't know Nicki Minaj she is a female rapper, as you might know the music/rap business is full of men but she told her self that she could do anything she wants, and that is why she is my role model .To me a role model is someone that Influenced you  in a positive way, I don't want to be a rapper but she influenced me that even though you might be a girl you can still do everything thing that a man can do (well not everything). the most impact thing that Nicki Minaj did that made her my role model was her saying... "When I am assertive, I'm  a b****. when a man is assertive, he's a boss. He bossed up , she says. No negative connotation behind bossed up. 'but lots of negative connotation behind being a b*****". after she said that I was done, I finally knew who is my role model, I have always thought of that but I could not find the right words to put it all together. Nicki Minaj is my public voice, my voice that I can't get to the world. I think that if you really have dreams you should fulfill  them and not let anyone get in your way.

race report

Black, Hispanic, Asian, these are all races and believe it or not, not everyone is ok with them. Around the world these days people make negative comments about other races, which is one of the many reasons the world is falling apart. Stereo typing is something that starts wars, begins controversy, and sometimes ends people’s lives. In my opinion people should be treated the same no matter what color or culture they have.

Ever since the founding of America, people stereotype those who are different colors because of past. In example black people are stereo typed as bad influences and from the “ghetto”. In some cases people have nothing against where people are from or what they are. I believe that some America’s don’t like the Asian race because when the war worlds one and two where going on the Japanese wanted to kill us.(sorry if this sounds racist)  but I believe that the reason some americans don’t like Chinese, Japanese, and Korean because they all look alike. And they did not what to take that chance by people saying that they where Korean when the thought they were Japanese, but they were really Korean. Over the years Americas have forgive the Japanese. Japanese also forgive the Americas; they became very good friends over the years.

I am Hispanic and I am proud to be what I am. I don’t care what people think of me, because god made me the way I am . I like me for who I am, or they can not. And I think that everybody should think that way. My grandmother always told me that you should always be respectful and have manners.I believe that the races of the world should not care what people think, I hope and pray that the world will be peaceful no matter what color or culture you have. You should be proud to be  what god made you.

Ponyboy Curtis

Ponyboy Curtis is one of many "Greasers", he is shy, quiet, and only 14 years of age, he gets good grades and likes to draw and read although, he is a criminal at mind and heart. He lost his parents in a car crash and now lives with his two older brothers. S.E. Hinton displays an adventurous and interesting plotline for the book “The Outsiders”. The well written novel shows Ponyboy as a very meek and healthy boy but somewhat of a pacifist; to me he is shown as the total opposite.
The beginning really stood out to me because Ponyboy is leaving a movie theater where he is jumped by a group of Socs. He is saved from the attack by some Greasers which include his two brother’s Darry and Sodapop. That night, Dallas, Johnny, and Ponyboy meet two Soc girls, Cherry and Marcia. Ponyboy realizes that Cherry is nothing like the Socs he has met before. She tells Ponyboy that "things are rough all over", indicating that the rich kids have problems of their own.  In these few pages of the book Hinton exposes two different sides of Ponyboy.  That he is level headed and sweet but can be a bad kid that doesn’t want to listen.
Ponyboy; the members of the greasers would probably call him the “tiny tot” of the group. He gets along best with Johnny Cade. They both don’t really have a parent to look up to and they are both upon the more meek side of the gang. Their relationship is almost like a flower and a stem, the flower can’t stand up without its stem and Ponyboy can’t really get a hold of reality without Johnny.
I think that throughout this book Hinton shows that you should stand up for people if you are truly their friend. The reason this book really stood out to me was because the greasers show what true friendship is like and they show that even though someone may look like a rough and tough person they might have a true kindness in their heart somewhere.
